We have been reading Psalms at Kohelet Shabbat services. We will continue here sequentially with excerpts and commentary.
Psalm 6
David on his sickbed and in pain speaks to us:
HaShem, do not rebuke me in your anger. Favor me for I am feeble; heal me, for my bones shudder.
I am wearied with my sigh and my tears soak my couch. My eyes are dimmed and aged.
HaShem hears the sound of my weeping and will accept my prayer shaming and confounding my foes.
Here David intends his prayer for all who are in sickness or distress but also for Israel when suffering oppression and deprivation.
